House of Dragon Compendium: Succession to Waystar Rival Royco’s

To borrow from another HBO drama: 1 member of Dragon Housego central family The Full Monster King, literally, is in this week’s episode as the Iron Throne succession officially begins.

And I welcome it! After eight episodes of you talk On who will follow Viserys (RIP) in ruling Westeros, matters finally is happening In this regard. So without further ado, let’s review what happens in Episode 9.

Success begins | It’s midnight in the Red Keep when Alicent’s maid, Talya, wakes her up to tell her of the king’s death. She cries, gets dressed and then runs to her father’s residence, where she says, “He told me he wanted Aegon to become king.” So they call the small council together and tell its members what is happening. Viserys has left us a gift. With his last breath, he impresses the queen with his last wish: that his son, Aegon, succeed him as lord of the Seven Kingdoms,” says Otto. This seems to have formally begun to carry out a plan of which Aliscent was not privy, as she quickly realizes.

Lord Lyman Besbury hasn’t been read either, and now he stands and dodges how the plot to put Aegon on the Iron Throne is “betrayal.” Accusing the King of the King’s murder, the Council screams until the moment Sir Creston approaches him from behind and hits his skull against the table, smashing his temple on the marble ball in front of him and killing him on the spot. Ser Harold draws his sword and demands that the younger knight remove his head and weapon, which causes Creston to raise his blade against Lord Commander; Only a quick word from the Queen defuses the situation – but Harold continues to give Cole the beetle’s eyebrow for the rest of the scene.

Otto Hightower won’t let anyone leave or enter the room until they’ve reached an agreement, so everyone sits down as if a broken Beesbury skull isn’t leaking a sticky puddle on the table. Otto says that Rainera and her family will be given the opportunity to publicly declare allegiance to Aegon, and that they will have to imprison them in order to prevent them from rallying supporters to their side. But Aliscent knows she will never bend the knee. “Are you planning to kill them?” She asks, but she already knows the answer. She gets up and says angrily that the king does not want to kill his daughter, but then asks Tiland Lannister what she thinks they should do instead, and Aliscent has no answer. So Otto orders Sir Harold to take his knights to the Dragonstone, “Be quick and be clean.” But the knight instead took off his white robe and said that he recognized no authority but the king, “And until there is one, there is no place for me here.” (This supports our appreciation that Sir Harold, in a series full of moral gray hats, is one of the good guys.)

Next thing we know, Otto gathers those who have sworn allegiance to Rhaenyra and tells them to pledge their support for the new king. Most do, but those who do not are led to a grim fate; Larys Strong watches everything unfold. Later, after turning to a master who hesitated before swearing allegiance to Aegon and who was preparing to alert Rhinera of what was happening, Lars told Otto that the time he spent in the company of the queen might also benefit the king’s own hand.

UM, where’s the new king? | Look, there’s another problem: No one knows where Egon has gone. So Otto sent Sers Erryk and Arryk Cargyll after him, and ordered them to bring the young man directly to him–and Not to Alicent. But at the same time, she informs Sir Creston Aliscent of this plan, and asks him to locate Aegon and bring him to to her. Aemond goes with the jockey. Meanwhile, Rhaenys is locked up in her dorm without any explanation, and Talia and a group of other servants are locked in the cell.

Christon and Amund head to Silk Street, where the owner of a establishment tells them that Egon’s tastes tend to be “less discriminating”. As they look, Aemond makes it clear he is He must be a king: he is the one who studies history, trains with weapons, and rides the largest dragon in the world.

House of the Dragon Season 1 Episode 9 Episode 9 with subtitlesAs they search, so does Arryk and Erryk, who end up in an institution that forces 10-year-olds to fight each other. They noticed a platinum blonde kid sitting in the corner, and the kid must be an Aegon bastard. One twin notes: “One of many things, I’ll bet.” In the end, a young woman approaches them and says she knows someone who can lead them to Aegon…for a price.

This person turns out to be Mesaria, whom Otto refers to as the “white worm” when he meets her in the city. He was surprised when she already learned of the king’s death. In exchange for information about Aegon’s whereabouts, he demands an end to the “brutal use of children in Flea Bottom” – golden cloaks seem to allow youngsters to fight, etc., and the crown does nothing to stop him – promising to look at he-she. Sure, Jan.

Arryk and Erryk follow up on Mysaria’s information and locate the Prince, who is holed up under the altar in September and not too happy to find him. They pulled him out…and ran straight to Kriston and Amund, blades drawn. In the end Emond gets the best of his brother, who kicks and screams like a little kid who doesn’t want to rule him. Aegon begs Aemond to let him walk away and never come back, apparently thinking seriously about it, but then Kriston announces that Alicent is waiting, and that’s it.

You put your foot down this time | After preparing Viserys’ body for burial, an angry Alicent visits Raines at her abode. “You usurp the throne,” the queen who was never so intuitive upon learning that the king was dead. Alicent is hardly selling House Velaryon to change her allegiance and support Aegon. Raines chuckles, saying that the older woman should have been a “Blood and Mood” Queen. It relies on their commonalities: “We do not judge, but we can direct the men who do so, kindly, away from violence and certain destruction, and instead toward peace.” Raines turns the tables, however, calling Aliscent wiser than she expected and whispers, “Did you never imagine yourself on the Iron Throne?” The Queen does not answer, and leaves and asks Rhaenys to ring the bell when she has come to a decision.

After Aegon is captured, and with the king almost in his mother’s grasp, Alicent tells her father that she will offer Rhaenyra terms that she can accept without shame or bodily injury. “If she is alive,” he warns, “her allies will rally behind her banners in search of her return.” The Queen ignores him, and instead scrutinizes the details of the ascent. Ser Criston will become the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. The Aegon will be cleared at dawn, with the King’s Landing watching. He will wear the Ageon I crown and carry the Blackfyre as a sword. “As you wish,” he said after I walked out.

She returns to her dorm to take her much-needed breath and not feel excited to find Larese there, waiting for her with a question: How did you suppose Otto found Egon so quickly? “There is a network of spies in the Red Keep. Along its threads travels news of all our business. He says, ‘Your father knows this, and he left it where he is.’ And I am distracted for a moment as she took off her shoes and put her feet on the table as he spoke. But when she asks for the names of those on the Web, pauses…until she removes her hose and shows him her bare feet, which he stares at with a great deal of lust.Ah, that’s how it is.

House of the Dragon Season 1 Episode 9 Episode 9 with subtitlesLarize says her lady-waiting, Talia, is one of the “little spiders,” and there are more like her. He suggests taking out the central character to disrupt the gossip network, and she realizes he’s offering to do so. “If you wish, it will be done,” he said softly. And then, from what I can only guess is their prearranged agreement, she turns away – though her bare feet are still in his opinion – while masturbating (happily, out of focus in an over-the-shoulder shot) looking conflicted. /disturbed/annoyed again for being a woman of authority who still has to deal with the whims of gross men.

And UGH, in one of the harshest cuts since Samwell Tarly first started working on the castle, next we see Aegon removing some shiny sauce from his plate with a piece of bread while he waits for morning. To quote Sam: Dry heave! However, in the Rhaenys’ rooms, things were a little less calm: Erryk Cargyll lowered her guard and opened the door, telling her to come with him, because “I can’t let this treachery stand.” His plan is to get her to Blackwater Bay and onto a ship before anyone notices her departure, but they are thwarted in their attempt as the townspeople are rounded up and fed towards the place where Aegon will be officially named king.

Did the king live long? | The crowd ends in Great September, as Otto announces the death of Viserys and his moribund desire for Aegon to succeed him. There was a little applause, and then the platinum-haired donkey entered into a big uproar. (I should point out that even though Rhaenys and Erryk broke up in crushing people, she did enter the building. And when Aegon was wiped out, she slipped through a side door.)

After placing the crown on the new king’s empty little head, the crowd slows to applause. But eventually, their cheers intensified, reaching a climax as he drew his sword and raised it in glory. but then all who – which It comes to a quick end when the dragon flies into the barrier and begins banging, stamping, squeaking, and generally throwing trash at people in its path. And see who’s riding it: Rhaenys! I’m not really sure how she had the time to do all that now, but what time is that on this show, anyway?

In the end, Rhaenys and her monster are left to stare at the new king, his mother, and the rest of the family. Alicent approaches Aegon and bows her head, awaiting the order of the High Valyrian who will turn them into crunchy creatures. But instead, the Queen who has never had just her mount, ah, yells at them really loudly? Although the dragon opens its mouth and makes a lot of noise, there is no fire, no “dracaris,” and Raynes gave Aliscent a pointed look before turning around and flying into the blue wilderness there.
