Russell Wilson, Broncos offense ripped apart by NFL Twitter in OT loss to Chargers

The Seattle Seahawks’ version of Russell Wilson finally showed up at the Denver Broncos on Monday.

Then he immediately disappeared.

The nine-time Pro Bowler started the prime-time showdown against the Los Angeles Chargers with a 10-game winning streak while helping the Broncos build a 10-0 lead, but faltered with Denver’s attacking after halftime in a 19-16 loss in overtime.

Dustin Hopkins’ goal that extended 39 yards after Montreal Washington blocked a penalty in overtime ended that.

The result is a record 2-4 for a team that was widely expected to compete in the AFC but reached the 20-point mark only once in six matches.

Things looked different at first, with Wilson hitting Greg Dolcic with a wide opening hole, finding KJ Hamler and Jerry Jeudy in long passes, using his legs to escape the pressure and continuing to play, hitting multiple throws on the run while keeping his eyes down.

However, the Broncos scored only three points after the break, which led to a lot of criticism from social media as the game progressed and the offense became even uglier:

The #broncos She has not been able to score since Peyton Manning retired. I really thought that would change with Russell Wilson, and here they are the worst in the league in terms of scoring and 16 points in nearly five quarters. It seems very difficult for them.

Denver chased four of his five properties in the second half. Not the only player came in when he settled on a field goal after three times after Baron Browning was intercepted deep in the Chargers area. Things didn’t improve in the extra period with a pair of forty-three on the property.

It wasn’t all about Wilson, with the offensive line constantly collapsing and the visitors finished with 10 penalties for 151 yards, but his finish on 5 of 18 was impossible to ignore after his rough start with his overall season struggles hovering like the background.

He’ll be looking to turn things around with a home game against the New York Jets, but there’s not much reason to be optimistic about Denver at this point.
